Overview
The Inventory Segments page is where you view, organize, and activate the Inventory Segments (also called Vehicle Sets) you've built for your dealership. From here you can star segments for quick access, search for a specific segment, and connect a segment to VINs Acceleration to launch VIN-specific marketing campaigns — all without leaving the page.
Where to Find It
In the dashboard left navigation, go to Inventory > Inventory Segments. The page is also accessible directly at /inventory/segments.
Who Has Access
Inventory Segments is a client-level feature — it's turned on for specific dealer/group accounts, not assigned per individual user role. If your account has the feature enabled, any user with access to the CDP/Inventory area can view the page and use every action on it (starring, searching, activating, sharing, exporting, and deleting). There's no separate admin-only tier of actions on this page.
Page-Level Controls
There's no global date range selector or filter that applies across the whole page — Inventory Segments always reflects your current, live vehicle sets. The one page-level control is the Search Segments box, and it only filters the Other Inventory Segments table (it does not filter the Starred table above it).
Starred Inventory Segments
This section sits at the top of the page and shows only the segments you've starred, so your most-used segments are always one click away — this list also feeds the segments shown in the left navigation for quick access. The section header shows a live count of starred segments.
If you haven't starred any segments yet, this section shows a short animated prompt instead of a table, encouraging you to star a segment for quick access.
Other Inventory Segments
This section lists every segment that isn't currently starred, also with a live count in the header. A Search Segments box next to the section header lets you filter this table by segment name as you type (or press Enter) — it doesn't search the Starred table.
If your account has no segments at all yet, both tables are replaced with a single empty state: "Define and activate an Inventory Segment tailored to your needs," with a Create an Inventory Segment button.
Segment Table Columns
Both the Starred and Other tables share the same five columns:
| Column | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Segment | The segment's name, a star toggle to add/remove it from the Starred table, and the current count of vehicles (VINs) in the segment. |
| Activation | Shows a chip naming the marketing product the segment is connected to (currently VINs Acceleration) if it's been activated. Blank if the segment isn't connected to anything. |
| Last Updated | The date the segment was last updated. |
| Updated By | An avatar showing the initials of the user who last updated the segment — hover it to see their full name. |
| Actions | The Activate menu, plus (on row hover) Share, Download, and Delete icons — see the next section for details. |
Actions & Activating a Segment
Every row has an Activate button that opens a menu of marketing tools the segment can be connected to. Selecting an option opens a connect dialog; confirming it activates the segment with that tool. If a segment is already activated, the same menu lets you disconnect it instead.
Hovering over a row also reveals three additional icons:
On-hover row actions:
- Share — copies a shareable public link to the segment.
- Download — exports the segment's data to CSV.
- Delete — opens a confirmation dialog before permanently deleting the segment. If the segment is connected to VINs Acceleration, the dialog notes that connection so you know what you're disconnecting.
UX Functionality Summary
Quick reference:
- Date range / global filter: none — the page always shows current, live segments.
- Search: available only on the Other Inventory Segments table, filters by segment name.
- Sort: each table column is sortable except Actions.
- Export: available per-segment via the Download icon on row hover (CSV).
- Create new: the New Segment button at the top of the page opens the segment builder.
Other Important Notes
Note:
- Inventory Segments must be enabled for your account before this page or its nav item will appear.
- Deleting a segment is permanent and, if it's connected to VINs Acceleration, will disconnect that campaign.
- Starring a segment adds it to this page's Starred table and to the left navigation for quick access — it does not affect the segment's data or activation status.
