Overview
In order for Fullpath to send SMS messages to a Dealership's customers, business verification must first be authenticated by our SMS provider, Twilio. The Verifications page must be completed before SMS services will be enabled.
Navigation
The SMS Signup and Verification page is nested in Account Settings, under Audience Activation: https://dashboard.fullpath.com/settings/nurture/sms-sign-up
- Enter the Fullpath Dashboard
- Go to Account Settings (upper right-hand corner)
- Select the Audience Activation product
- Select SMS Verifications
Completing the Verification form:
- Enter your Business Information
- Select your SMS use case (Marketing Only or Marketing & Transactional)
- Add a Point of Contact
- Confirm your Website URL
- Add your Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions URLs
- Confirm your Dealership Address
- Confirm Opt-In and Consent requirements are met on your lead forms
- Submit the form for Twilio review
Step 1 — Business Information
Your dealership's legal name is the one that appears on government and tax documents. Include a DBA (does business as) if your legal business name is significantly different from the name on your website.
| Business Type | Business Registration Number |
|---|---|
| Private Profit (most dealerships) | Mandatory |
| Public Profit | Mandatory |
| Sole Proprietor | Optional |
Step 2 — Select Your SMS Use Case
Does your dealership send Marketing-only SMS, or both Marketing and Transactional SMS?
-
Marketing Only — select this if your SMS program consists solely of promotional or marketing content (offers, incentives, announcements).
-
Marketing & Transactional — select this if you also send transactional messages, such as service reminders or appointment confirmations, in addition to marketing content.
Step 3 — Point of Contact
Choose from a list of Dealership employees already added under User Management, or enter a new Point of Contact manually — they'll be added to the User Management list automatically.
Step 4 — Website
This URL is pulled from your Dealership settings but can be edited. The website must be live and public.
Step 5 — Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions URLs
Enter the direct links to your dealership website's Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions pages.
Step 6 — Dealership Address
The Dealership address is pulled from your Dealership settings but can be edited.
Step 7 — Opt-In and Consent
To send SMS messages to Dealership customers, Twilio requires verification that end users have consented to receiving text messages from the Dealership.
- If the Dealership uses Website Engagement without form customizations, the default SMS consent language in Fullpath's form captures is sufficient — just click Verify.
- If the Dealership uses Website Engagement with custom form fields, or hasn't activated Website Engagement, Twilio requires an image upload of the form and its consent copy. The opt-in must not be cropped — Twilio needs a clear, full view of exactly what's presented to the end user.
Rules for Getting SMS Verified with Twilio
Proof must be visible to Twilio. SMS consent captured in the CRM isn't visible to Twilio — it needs to come from a lead form on the website.
On the Lead Form
- The phone number field can't be required — customers should be able to ask questions without leaving a phone number.
- The consent checkbox can't be required.
- The checkbox can't be checked by default.
Checkbox, Not Disclaimer
- The lead form should express written consent that the shopper agrees to receive marketing SMS — a checkbox is the best way to do this.
- The checkbox shouldn't bundle T&C agreement with SMS opt-in language. Customers should be able to agree to your Terms & Conditions without opting in to SMS.
- Don't use disclaimer text like "by submitting this form I agree to..." — customers should be able to contact the dealership without opting in to SMS.
Opt-In Language Must Include
- The name of the business
- A clear statement that the user will be contacted with marketing messages
- How often messages will be sent
- A statement that consent is not a condition of purchase
Step 8 — Submit the Form
The Submit button at the bottom of the Verification page becomes available only once every other field has been completed and verified.
Once submitted, Twilio reviews the form. You'll then be directed to finalize and configure your SMS settings inside Audience Activation.
